Reference Material: CD-ROM Student Tutorial, which accompanies the textbook, is a computer-based instructional program that provides the student support in mastery of math objectives. Method of Evaluation/Grades: The class is structured on a total point system. The final grade will be assigned according to the scale as follows: 90% and above A 80-89 B 70-79 C 60-69 D Below 60 F Points will be awarded as follows: 5 unit exams worth 30 points each for a total of 150 points. No late work will be accepted for credit. This applies to all quizzes and exams. Quizzes and exams are timed and must be completed by the stated due date in the allotted time frame. Make sure you set aside a block of time to complete the quiz and/or exam in a timely manner. Late Assignment Policy: Assignments must be completed by the stated deadline. No assignment will be accepted after the stated due date. No late work will be accepted and no make-up dates for tests and quizzes will be offered. Participation Policy: Participation on a regular basis is very important for math classes due to the progression of course objectives; each new concept builds on the previous one. Lack of work and participation will present gaps in the learning process, which hinders student success. Services For Students With Disabilities: Students, with either a permanent or temporary disability, who require accommodation for more than one week should request services by contacting the Student Services Office. Students requesting accommodations must present written documentation from a certified professional, which should include a statement identifying the disability as well as recommendations for accommodations. Contact, at least one month in advance, the Dean of Student Services (785) 738-9001 to make requests for accommodations.
Policy Regarding Academic Dishonesty: Withdrawal Procedure: The last official day a student can withdraw from a General Education class is two weeks after mid-term each semester. A grade of “WP” will appear on the transcript if a student withdraws with a passing grade. A grade of “WF” will appear on the transcript if a student withdraws with a failing grade. Withdrawal forms are available in the Registrar’s Office at the Administration Building. Withdrawals are not effective until completed forms are on file in the registrar’s office. If proper withdrawal procedures are not followed the resulting grade with be an “F”. Course Objective: It is assumed that students entering an Intermediate Algebra course will have competencies from prerequisite courses. Students will be expected to use appropriate technology as one tool to achieve the outcomes listed below.
