Kansas Registered Apprenticeship -

Registered Apprenticeship is a proven system for training employees in a variety of occupations that require a wide range of skills and knowledge. It is an ideal way for employers to build and maintain a skilled workforce.

Because Registered Apprenticeship is driven by businesses and industries and directly connected to solving their skill needs, it is positioned to continue to grow and expand to serve the needs of the 21st century workforce.  Registered Apprenticeship combines employment, on-the-job learning overseen by a mentor and related technical instruction that may be provided through community or technical colleges, correspondence, online, distance learning, contract vendors or apprenticeship training centers to both educate and develop business and industries' workforce.

Kansas Health Profession Opportunity Project (KHPOP) -

The Kansas Department of Labor has projected 26,000 new health care job openings over the next 10 years in Kansas. The traditional training and education system will not be able to meet the demands of the industry as it continues to grow and the current workforce moves into retirement. The Kansas Department of Commerce is launching a statewide campaign to provide health care education, training and employment for 500 targeted individuals each year over the next five years. The Kansas Health Profession Opportunity Program (KHPOP) will help address the labor shortage in these occupations while providing career pathways for candidates that traditionally face obstacles in finding well-paying jobs. KHPOP will enable participants to become self-sufficient and decrease the number of individuals receiving public assistance.

Qualified candidates receive support in the form of education, training, child care consideration, GED assistance and career coaching and counseling. Targeted populations will be presented with opportunities to increase skills, earn credentials/stackable certifications and progress on career pathways in health care jobs including: Certified Nurse Aide, Pharmacy Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Dental Assistant, Health Support Specialist and many others.
